News Flash from Greg Cain, Reporting from ASTM F18 Committee/NAIL Meeting: New Rubber Insulated Products Soon to be Introduced in North America

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 16, 2008)—Manufacturers today showcased new products in the gloves and sleeves segment of the rubber insulating equipment category. Hi-Line’s Greg Cain, Rubber Goods/Arc Flash Specialist, a member of the F18 committee, reported that manufacturers put a variety of new products on display for attendees to touch and feel, creating a new spirit of competition.
Every six months, fellow committee members meet to review and approve standards. Once per year, NAIL - North American Independent Laboratories - also sponsors a meeting to discuss new developments that could be important to the industry. At the same time, manufacturers take the opportunity to showcase their new products to this influential group of experts.

Greg reports that NAIL sponsored an event that allowed rubber good manufacturers to showcase new product. At least five manufacturers are releasing new types of gloves and other rubber goods to the industry potentially giving linemen more choice, and new features.
